Endgame course composed by GM Alexander Panchenko. It's aim is to teach a student the intricacies of the endgame through a theoretical section, which includes over 700 games/lectures, each of them illustrating theoretical and practical endgame methods. What is the difference between Chess Endgame Training and Theory and Practice of Chess Endings?
The programs Theory and Practice of Chess Endings and Chess Endgame Training are the two mutually complementary pieces which do not overlap.
Theory and Practice of Chess Endings is based on a huge instructive course on endgame composed by GM Alexander Panchenko. The program presents and comments in detail on both theoretical positions and practical playing methods with about 700 game-lectures included.
Test and play exercises are selected by GM Panchenko in a non-great quantity of 300 exercises as well as 180 positions to play versus the chess playing program. That is why it probably makes sense using the other program that is Chess Endgame Training (the author for it is IM ICCF Alpert). The latter program contains no instructive material while consisting of 2450 positions to solve taken out of the practical games on as many as 500 topics. Thus with the two programs you get a chance of studying endgame theory (Theory and Practice of Chess Endings) and testing yourself (Chess Endgame Training).
