From 1905 to 1936, Alain C. White published a variety of collections of chess problems.
The series was dubbed "The Christmas Collection" because most of them were released around Christmas time each year. Each of them was considered essential reading for the chess problem-solving and composing community.
This volume contains 274 chess problems, all involving white rooks battling a black king, a combination of pawns, and the occasional additional piece. In this new edition, the material has been lightly updated and checked with a computer engine by FIDE Master Carsten Hansen.
