This new book is an up to date release about one of the most popular openings nowadays. On the recent Candidates tournament in Berlin, this was the most frequently played opening and the analysis of the author includes all those games as well.

GM Arkadij Naiditsch:

The Semi-Tarrasch has always been a very solid opening choice for Black, but developments during the last 2 years show that it has become the "Berlin Wall" of 1.d4 positions. Top players playing it regularly, in particular Kramnik, have placed a big questionmark as to wether White has any advantage at all!

The basic ideas of the Semi-Tarrasch can be learned quickly and in my opinion is much easier to play for Black than for White. All-inall a good opening choice for players who are aiming for a solid structure with relatively clear plans for both sides.

International Master Tibor Karolyi was Hungarian Champion in 1984 and is renowned as an author and trainer. He won the Guardian Book of the Year prize in 2007 and choached Peter Leko until he became a world class grandmaster.
