Dieses Go Programm für Win 95 / Win NT läßt kaum Wünsche offen. Als modernes 32-Bit Programm nutzt es bei der Installation die Autorun Funktion. Wenn sich der Kunde für die Standardinstallation entschließt belegt "The many faces of Go Deluxe“ ca. 15 MB Festplattenspeicher. Bei der Menüsprache steht nur Englisch zur Verfügung. Die Bedienung ist jedoch trotzdem schnell erlernbar.

Neben den japanischen Regeln stehen die chinesischen, amerikanischen und die GDE Regeln zur Auswahl. Die Brettgröße kann frei von 9x9 bis 19x19 gewählt werden, für die Spielstärke schlägt Go Deluxe Einstellungen zwischen 1 und 10 vor, akzeptiert aber sogar höhere Werte bei längeren Antwortzeiten. Dem Anfänger sei die Möglichkeit des Handicap-Spiels empfohlen. Beim Handicap erhält der Spieler eine Vorgabe.

Jedes neu begonnene Spiel wird wie ein neues Fenster verwaltet. Bevor Sie ein Spiel beenden fragt das Programm, ob gespeichert werden soll. Ein Menüpunkt bietet die Möglichkeit zu jedem Spiel umfangreiche Spielinformationen zu sichern.

Bei einem Programm dieser Klasse ist selbstverständlich an eine Stellungseingabe gedacht worden. Ebenso kann der Anwender Fuseki (Anfangspiel/Eröffnung) und Joseki (spezielle Lehre über die Ecken des Brettes im Fuseki) studieren. Die Eröffnungsbibliothek kann editiert werden. Ein Tutor gibt auf Wunsch Zugvorschläge an. Auf der CD befindet sich eine große Sammlung Go-Partien, die installiert und nachgespielt werden können. "The many faces of Go Deluxe“ kann beliebige Partiestellungen ausdrucken.

Fazit: Ohne großen optischen und akustischen Schnickschnack erfüllt "The many faces of Go Deluxe“ mit seinen umfangreichen Optionen auch gehobene Ansprüche. Für den ambitionierten Go Spieler sicherlich die beste Empfehlung.
