Der Centurion bekam im Dezember 1998 von der Redaktion der Fachzeitschrift "Computerschach & Spiele" den Tip der Redaktion.
Dieses leicht zu bedienende Gerät genügt in seiner Spielstärke (bis etwa 1900 ELO/DWZ) selbst den Ansprüchen eines überdurchschnittlichen Vereinsspielers, läßt sich aber auch auf das Niveau eines Hobbyspielers oder des typischen Anfängers einstellen. Die Ausstattung ist sehr umfangreich und enthält z.B. Lernoptionen, die in Form gespeicherter Meisterpartien ausgestaltet sind. An interessanten Stellen der Partie wird der Spieler nach Zugvorschlägen gefragt. Je nach Qualität der Antworten versucht der Schachrechner am Ende des Kurses, die Stärke des Spielers in ELO zu bewerten.
Diesem Saitek-Computer muß aufgrund der Ausstattung, die zu einem erstaunlich günstigen Preis geboten wird, ein besonders gutes Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis bescheinigt werden.
