Chess in modern times has seen many an all Russian final, but the Kasparov-Anand 1995 match was truly a contest for the right to be the world's champion. The challenger came from Madras, India, the champion from Moscow. Fittingly, they met on top of the world in the observation deck of New York City's World Trade Center. Journalists from nearly every time zone crowded into the press room and scrambled to meet their staggered deadlines. The match was televised in both Russia and India, and the moves were transmitted instantly across the planet via the internet.
Live grandmaster commentary was carried out throughout the match and three of those grandmaster record their impressions in On Top of The Chess World. Former World Junior Champion Ilya Gurevich; former US-Champion Larry Christiansen; and former World Open winner John Fedorowicz take turns presenting detailed analysis of all the games and report on their thoughts and observations.
