Der Cougar ist der große Bruder des Centurion. Die Ausstattung ist bis auf die beim Cougar fehlende Bewertungsfunktion identisch. Dafür läuft das Programm des Cougar mit 16 MHz statt 10 MHz beim Centurion etwas flotter ab. Cougar hebt sicht weiter vom Centurion durch die Möglichkeit ab, nach Bronsteinzeitkontrollen zu spielen.

Mooie naam - cougar betekent poema. Maar belangrijker is dat de Cougar net als alle hier besproken tafelschaakcomputers is uitgerust met gevoelige druksensoren; een zachte aanraking is. voldoende voor de computer om te weten welk stuk in actie moet komen. Smaken verschillen, maar iedereen zal het met het redactionele testteam eens zijn dat de zilverzwarte vormgeving helemaal correspondeert met de dynamiek van het elektronisch schaken. Ook charmant zijn de in totaal acht zelfaanpassende Zwakke Niveaus. Dit houdt in dat de computer zo goed en kwaad als het gaat gelijke tred houdt met uw prestaties op het bord: smijt u met grafzetten, dan doet de computer daar naar hartelust aan mee, en speelt u de sterren van de hemel, dan begint ook Cougar te schijnen. Om de spanning van een partij op te voeren, laat dit felle apparaat desgevraagd het geluid van een tikkende klok horen (jaja). Het openingsboek heeft tienduizend stellingen. Bovendien kent Cougar tal van tijdcontroles en is hij capabel genoeg om ook de beginner te helpen bij het verbeteren van zijn spel.
