Wie die moderne Theorie zeigt, hat Schwarz gleiche Aussichten in der Variante 7...c6 8.La4 b5 9.Lb3 b4. Die Zukunft der ganzen Variante hängt davon ab, ob Weiß die vorteilhaften Möglichkeiten in dieser Variante entdeckt oder nicht.
Jedenfalls, in allen Varianten entstehen komplizierte Stellungen, die beiden Seiten zahlreiche Verbesserungsmöglichkeiten anbieten.
