Das Gambit 1. d4 Sf6 2. c4 c5 3. d5 b5 wird heute zu Ehren von Pal Benkö als Benkö-Wolgagambit bezeichnet. Erstaunlicherweise taucht dessen Buch "The Benko Gambit" (Batsford, London 1974) in der Bibliographie des neuen Werks - immerhin erschienen im selben Verlag - nicht mehr auf. Aufgelistet wird vor allem (englischsprachige) Literatur ab Ende der 80er Jahre, darunter drei Bücher von Byron Jacobs. Veraltet die Theorie wirklich so schnell? Wenigstens bei dem scharfen Benkö-Wolga-Gambit muß man diese Frage wohl bejahen. "Wolga-Benkö-Gambit" (Autor: R. Schwarz, Heidelberg 1977) erwähnt beispielsweise die Variante 4. cb5: a6 5. f3 noch mit keiner Silbe, und auch die "Enzyklopädie" (Belgrad 1979) behandelt es nur flüchtig, während "Winning with the Benko" 5. f3 auf zwölf Seiten analysiert. Vielleicht ist es also an der Zeit, das eigene Repertoire mit diesem Buch auf den neuesten Stand zu bringen.
