Es ist erwiesen, daß Vasik Rajlich die Programme Crafty und Fruit kopiert hat und damit gegen die Turnierregeln der ICGA verstoßen hat. Dies gilt insbesondere in Bezug auf die Computerschach-Weltmeisterschaften 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 und 2010. Vasik Rajlich hat hier speziell Punkt 2 der Turnierordnung grob mißachtet.

Die ICGA hat daher wie folgt enschieden:
1. Vasik Rajlich wird hiermit als Computerschach-Weltmeister (WCCC) der Jahre 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 und 2010 disqualifiziert.

3. Der 1. Platz sowie der Weltmeistertitel von Rybka der Jahre 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 werden annulliert, alle anderen Teilnehmer verbessern sich in der Wertung um jeweils einen Platz.

1) Die ICGA ist keine ofizielle Organisation, daher haben ihre Entscheidungen keine rechtlichen Auswirkungen.
2) Grund für die Untersuchungen war ursprünglich der Vorwurf von Vas, daß andere Autoren Rybka kopiert haben. Die Entscheidung der ICGA erleichtert nun die Veröffentlichung weiterer "Rybka-Klone".
3) Unserer Ansicht nach haben viele aktuelle starke Engines große Teile von Rybka übernommen. Das ist in größerem Umfang geschehen als bei Rybka selbst.
4) Es ist unklar, wer hier im Recht ist, hier können nur juristische Schritte zur Klärung beitragen.*****************

Vasik Rajlich is guilty of plagiarizing the programs Crafty and Fruit, and has violated the ICGA's tournament rules with respect to the World Computer Chess Championships in the years 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. Specifically, Vasik Rajlich, on all five occasions, violated Tournament Rule 2.

The ICGA has therefore decided as follows:
1. Vasik Rajlich is hereby disqualified from the World Computer Chess Championships (WCCC) of 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.

3. The 1st places and World Computer Chess Champion titles awarded to the program Rybka in the 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 WCCCs are hereby annulled, and all the other programs that competed in those events are moved up in the final tournament standings by one place.

1) ICGA is not an official organization. And its decisions have no legal effect.
2) The main reason of investigation is that Vas accuses authors of other engines of cloning Rybka. And this hurts commercial releases of new programs. With ICGA decision it is easier to justify cloning Rybka.
3) We believe that many modern strong engines have taken much from Rybka. And borrowing from Rybka is more principal than Rybka's borrowing from other engines.
4) It is too difficult to tell who is right in this situation. Only legal (juridical) procedures could be able to help here.*****************
